Time of the Apes is not an episode I have much recollection of from its initial airing. I have a few issues with this episode, though I enjoy it overall. The opening segment is quite good and I like when Joel hits a baseball through, what I guess is a window, causing a hull breach. The invention exchange is a little weak, and the cellulite phone doesn't do anything for me, nor the super baby growth formula, but I'm sure the production team had a riot at the expense of sound guy Tim Scott, playing the giant baby. The intermittent host segments fall a little flat, though the Ape fashion segment was good. The film itself is a total cluster fuck, being a film edited together from a TV show, and on top of that, ten years after the fact. It's great for laughs and the riffing is strong, even though the monkey jokes do wear a bit thin. The episode finishes strong with the Sandy Frank song and the baby pushing the button. Solid stuff. 7/10.
As always, you can read more about the episode at the Satellite News Episode Guide.
